Calls: False Alarm

Called by a resident for a camp fire on in Cross Lake. Units responding to the area could not find anything. Called back the person reporting and they reported seeing a large plume of smoke, but that they didn't see it anymore.

Chief called for trucks to remain staged on the highway and have POV's check area camp roads looking for camp fires. Units made contact with an individual that was burning some brush and cooking hot dogs. The big smoke came from starting it using dried pine needles.

Received a call from Caribou Fire to provide tanker support for a structure fire on the Hedman Road in New Sweden. Crews were dispatched along with T-14 and T-1. Upon arrival crews found that there was a small fire within a greenhouse structure that had been contained and extinguished by the occupants. Units cleared and returned to their stations.

A citizen noticed burn marks by an area where our trucks fill water. Personnel investigated and contact Maine Forest Service. All information was turned over to them for further investigation.

A North Lakes Fire unit came across a car deer accident. The unit checked on the occupants and setup for traffic control. A 2nd unit was called in to assist. They assisted with traffic control until released by State Police.

Called by the New Canada Town Office to assist them with clearing their lot prior to a meeting.

E-324 set up with a portable tank for operations, while T-1 provided a tanker shuttle for water. Personnel cleared at 2000hrs.

Recieved a call of smoke coming from an area near the woods in Sinclair. Did not seem to be growing, no flames showing, but it should be checked.

Chief Woods responded in Chief's truck to find a controled burn of debris that was actually in St. Agatha. Contact was made with Maine Forest Service and found that a permit had been issued for that fire.

Units were called to a home in Sinclair were smoke was seen on the exterior of the building. When units arrived they found the smoke had come from the ash from a wood stove cleaning dumped into a plastic can. Units checked for fire spread and cleared the scene.

North Lakes Fire would like to remind everyone to store your hot ashes in a proper container and never store them near any combustible materials.
